Project Information
Project description / initial situation
- Increasing demands on the performance and reliability of the transport infrastructure in Germany
- Due to a wide variety of influences, a large number of infrastructure structures do not reach their planned service life
- Many infrastructure structures will reach the end of their technical service life in the coming years due to increasing use and their advancing age
- Currently, decisions about the measures during the useful life are made on the basis of the available property-related information.
- Obtaining information is difficult and time-consuming due to the heterogeneous quality of the as-built documentation.
- An advanced, intelligent life cycle management (LCM) can support this process substantially.
Challenge
- The current way of collecting and processing status data does not allow for preventive measures
- Development of the concept of a modular indicator-supported life cycle management with regard to quick, targeted and comprehensible decisions
- Elaboration of the different needs of the rail, road and waterway modes of transport Systematic collection of all relevant information in the form of parameters and timely and comprehensive evaluation
- The parameters and their combinations should take into account all structural, economic, socio-cultural and ecological concerns and requirements
- Development of two concepts that build on each other (object and network level) Identification of the relevant indicators and parameters at object and network level
- The information sources of the construction authorities (rail, road, waterway) serve as the working basis. The data are made available free of charge and can be in digital and/or analogue form. The procedure of the construction authorities (road construction administrations of the federal states, WSV, DB Netz AG) for recording the data should not be changed.
Measures
- Definition of terms, basics of life cycle management
- Analysis of existing systems
- Elaboration of the parameters and their combinations that are relevant for a transport carrier-overlapping LZM.
- Selection of the parameters and description of the added value for the assessment of building conditions compared to previous methods
- Definition of the interface between network and object level
- Validation of the concept based on pilot projects
Benefit of the procedure for those involved:
- Universally applicable modular lifecycle management concept with a wide range of applications
- Linking of network and object level using SWOT analysis
- Weighting of buildings and measures using Paretro
- The concept can be used in particular for the LZM of existing buildings
- Possibility of successive use and expansion of the concept
- Indicator-based damage risk assessment
